This policy explains the cookies and similar storage technologies (such as local storage) that Courtship uses, and why. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data more broadly.

what this covers

Courtship is a mobile and web app. On the web version, we use browser storage (cookies and local storage) to make the app work. On the mobile app, the equivalent is on device storage rather than browser cookies, but it serves the same purpose and this policy covers both.

the categories we use

• Strictly necessary: Keeps you signed in between visits (via our authentication provider, Firebase Authentication), and remembers basic app state such as your appearance setting (light, dark, or system) and which chat messages and notifications you have already seen. Without these, the app would sign you out constantly and forget your preferences every time you open it.

• Functional: None beyond the strictly necessary items above. We do not set separate preference cookies for anything else at this time.

• Analytics: none. We do not run Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or any third party analytics or measurement tool.

• Advertising: None. We do not use advertising cookies, ad networks, or cross site tracking of any kind.

third party cookies

We do not embed third-party ad tech, social media widgets, or tracking pixels that would set their own cookies. Our infrastructure provider, Google Firebase, may set technical cookies strictly necessary to keep authenticated sessions working; these are covered under the strictly necessary category above and are not used for tracking or profiling.

consent

Because Courtship only uses strictly necessary storage, no cookie consent banner is shown. If we ever add analytics or advertising cookies in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first, in line with the EU ePrivacy rules.

managing storage yourself

You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings, or by uninstalling the mobile app. Doing so will sign you out and reset your local appearance and notification read state, but will not delete your account or any data stored in our backend; see our privacy policy for instructions on deleting your account entirely.

Any changes to this policy will appear on this page and be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
